The Torre del Oro is a twelve-sided military watchtower located in Seville, Andalusia. It was built by the Almohad empire to control access to Seville via the Guadalquivir River. It was erected in the early 13th century and took part in various battles and conflicts over the centuries. It was even used as a prison during the Middle Ages.
